Prabina Roy Foster Stray Animals

Prabina Roy is an animal lover who runs a Foster home service in Versova. She was born and brought up in Darjeeling but has been living in Mumbai for the last 10 years.

Her journey started 8 years back when she found an injured dog who was suffering from cancer and needed medical treatment and care, she couldn’t just leave her on the road to die so she took the dog to the vet for treatment and later took her home and started taking care of her, she said earlier she did not have much affection for cats and dogs but after spending 1 year with the dog she started feeling compassion towards the animals and talking about the inspiration she said that the dog is the reason why she started a Foster home.

She only does foster stray animals who are injured or the ones who are incapable of surviving outside as she believes that there are many people who look after the breeds but no one looks after the Strays. She feels good when she looks after the stray animals in need.

She does everything she is capable of and with her sisters supports in this she handles all the payment that comes in and takes care of this foster home and does tasks such as feeding stray cats and dogs in her area and taking them to a doctor, making appointments for surgery etc.

She faces a lot of financial problems and also has to deal with her neighbours and people who don’t understand the concept of coexistence where she gets support from the children in her area who completely supports her and helps her and also her landlady who treats her like family and fights for her in the time of need.

Further, she said that she learnt everything from her mother who taught her how to live with others in harmony, and fill someone’s stomach. she feels very proud of herself that she is capable of doing all this and despite all the difficulties Prabina said she would do everything for animals as long as she can.

In the end, she thanked everyone who supports her and wished that the children who help her in taking care of the animals keep doing this good work in the coming future.
